Otherwise known as the Spire, O'Connell Street.

Taking photos at night in the city can be troublesome. You can, too often, attract the wrong kind of attention...

Last night was different though. Over about a two hour period I was approached by 5 different people...all of whom were just interested in having a chat about photography, or asking me about some of the places I was photographing.

Maybe I've become too cynical. I inevitably assume the worst...most the time though, people are sound. Even in the city.

There's something I love about old laneways. They're a remnant of the past. They open up potential for commercial activity behind the fancy shopfronts on the main streets and help make large city blocks more porous.

Modern large scale urban developments rarely allow for connections through a block. It just doesn't make commercial sense most of the time.

Come to think about it, contrary to their appearance most of the time, they're a luxury...
